Der Schritt ist die wohl entscheidende Etappe beim tief greifenden Konzernumbau, den die seit 2017 amtierende Chefin Emma Walmsley nach ihrem Antritt angestossen hatte. Er soll der “neuen GSK” mittelfristig mehr Umsatztempo und eine höhere Profitabilität bescheren. Die Anteilseigner müssen sich nun allerdings erstmals seit 20 Jahren auf eine geringere Dividende einstellen. Die GSK-Aktie notierte am Nachmittag dennoch mit rund 2,5 Prozent im Plus. “Wir sind jetzt bereit, den nächsten Wachstumssprung für die neue GSK zu machen und den Wert des Consumer-Healthcare-Geschäfts freizulegen”, sagte die Managerin laut Mitteilung. Der gleichzeitig mit der Veranstaltung veröffentlichte Mittelfristausblick sieht nunmehr ein währungsbereinigtes Umsatzplus von im Schnitt mehr als fünf Prozent jährlich zwischen 2021 und 2026 vor. Dabei setzt der Konzern vor allem auf ein starkes Erlöswachstum mit Impfungen und Spezialtherapeutika. Nicht in den Prognosen inbegriffen seien dabei mögliche Einnahmen mit Covid-19-Bezug. Zudem sieht GSK nach eigenen Berechnungen mit bestimmten Medikamenten, die derzeit bereits in fortgeschrittenen klinischen Studien getestet werden, die Chance auf einen Spitzenumsatz von mehr als 20 Milliarden Pfund jährlich. 2031 sollen die Erlöse zu konstanten Wechselkursen auch deshalb bei mehr als 33 Milliarden Pfund (42,2 Milliarden Franken) liegen. Das bereinigte operative Ergebnis soll währungsbereinigt binnen fünf Jahren im Schnitt um mehr als zehn Prozent klettern und die bereinigte operative Marge soll bis 2026 auf mehr als 30 Prozent steigen. 2021 dürfte sie einen mittleren 20-Prozent-Wert erreichen, hiess es weiter. Helfen sollen dabei auch milliardenschwere Einsparungen. Zum Vergleich: Im vergangenen Jahr hatte der Konzern inklusive des vor der Abspaltung stehenden Geschäfts mit verschreibungsfreien Medikamenten seinen Umsatz um lediglich 3 Prozent auf rund 34 Milliarden Pfund ankurbeln können. Beim bereinigten operativen Gewinn hatten die Briten 2020 einen Zuwachs von lediglich 2 Prozent vorweisen können, und zu tatsächlichen Wechselkursen hatte GSK sogar einen leichten Rückgang hinnehmen müssen. Der Konzern hatte die Umbaupläne schon vor einigen Jahren bekannt gegeben. Walmsley steht unter Druck, GSK wieder auf Kurs zu bringen, nachdem es im Vergleich etwa zum heimischen Konkurrenten AstraZeneca keine gute Form gezeigt hatte. Dafür wurde bereits das Produktportfolio neu ausgerichtet und nicht zum Kerngeschäft gehörende Marken wie etwa Abtei und das Vitaminpräparat Cetebe verkauft. Künftig will sich GSK vor allem auf das Geschäft mit Impfstoffen und verschreibungspflichtigen Medikamenten in den Bereichen HIV, Infektionskrankheiten, Onkologie sowie Immun- und Atemwegserkrankungen konzentrieren. Dafür sollen nun weitere Marken verkauft werden. Die letzten Umbaumassnahmen sollen dann 2022 abgeschlossen sein und es sei keine weitere grössere Restrukturierung geplant. Dennoch war Walmsley zuletzt in die Kritik geraten, nicht schnell genug zu handeln. Mit dem Einstieg des aktivistischen Investors Paul Singer, der bekannt dafür ist, Druck auszuüben, hatten die Spekulationen über die weitere Strategie weitere Nahrung erhalten. Mit den Plänen für ein direktes Listing endet nun indes das jahrelange Rätselraten über einen möglichen Börsengang der verschreibungsfreien Medikamente. GSK hatte bereits 2019 sein sogenanntes OTC-Geschäft mit Marken wie dem Schmerzmittel Voltaren mit dem des US-Konzerns Pfizer in einem neuen Gemeinschaftsunternehmen gebündelt. Den Plänen zufolge sollen nun von dem 68-prozentigen Anteil, den GSK am Joint Venture hält, Mitte 2022 vier Fünftel an der London Stock Exchange gelistet werden – den Rest betrachtet der Konzern als kurzfristiges Finanzinvestment, das später versilbert werden soll. Auch eine Notierung über Hinterlegungsscheine an der US-Börse ist geplant. Das neue Unternehmen verfüge über ein Portfolio mit einem Jahresumsatz von zuletzt zehn Milliarden Pfund, hiess es weiter. Den Aktionären winken unterdessen zunächst Einbussen bei der Dividende. GSK kündigte für 2021 zwar eine wie im Vorjahr stabile Ausschüttung von 80 Pence je Aktie an, für 2022 sollen die Investoren jedoch von GSK und dem abgespaltenen Unternehmen zusammengenommen lediglich 55 Pence erhalten. Nach der Abspaltung sollen GSK-Aktionäre 2023 eine Ausschüttung von 45 Pence erhalten, das GSK-Management verspricht aber weitere Erhöhungen durch eine “progressive Dividendenpolitik”./tav/ngu/he/he (AWP)
